Captain C.J. (Christopher James Floyd) was born and raised in Woodbine, Maryland and like most fishing enthusiasts, has zero memory of life without a fishing pole.
“If there was water, I was fishing in it” simply stated by Captain C.J. with a warm Southern drawl. Since the day Captain C.J. could hold his own rod and reel he has indisputably fished every body of water he’s come across. From Maryland to Virginia to North Carolina; fishing piers to Canyons 70 miles offshore. He's fished the Atlantic to the Pacific Ocean, the Bering Sea, the Sea of Cortez, the Gulf of St. Lawrence to our amazing Gulf of Mexico.
Best known in fishing circles as Catchin’ Jiants, Captain C.J.’s lifetime career achievements include the prestige of “harvesting” two Giant Bluefin Tuna off the coast of PEI, Canada and catching and releasing a dozen which have ranged in size from 500 to 1100 pounds. He engaged each “Jiant” through the use of Stand-Up gear only!
Hand-picked by his skill, determination and willpower to adapt to EXTREME fishing conditions, Captain C.J. and Team Catchin’ Jiants joined forces with Delaware State University’s research team, The Georgia Aquarium, 3 researchers’ and 3 biologists, producing them 25 sharks in only 24 hours off Delaware’s coastline. Captain C.J. prides himself on the healthy and sustainable release of all sharks and is proud to have taken a significant part in productive research through the use of acoustic tagging, APEX tagging and DNA samples collected via this large and responsibly executed plan.
At just 15 years old, Captain C.J. fished weeks upon end for Salmon and Halibut in The Bering Sea off the coast of Adak, Alaska.
Holding his 100 ton Master Captain license, Captain C.J. is highly qualified to meet your every fishing need ranging from the basics to the most EXTREME fishing.
